During the Civil War, Fort Pillow was a Confederate fort captured and utilized by Union soldiers; today, visitors can tour the historic remains of the site, see American Civil War artifacts and participate in enlightening interpretive programs focused on the natural and human history of the park. The campground's 38 sites are geared mostly for tent camping but backcountry camping is allowed along a 5-mile trail. A lake allows canoes and fishing boats with trolling motors, and fields are set aside for certain sports and outdoor games. Set atop the Chickasaw Bluffs, the park looks out over the Mississippi River about 50 miles north of Memphis.
Open year round. Museum open daily 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
